Respiratory fit testing

Quantitative and precise

Respirator fit testing, also known as mask fit testing, is a process used to ensure that a respiratory protective device, such as a mask or respirator, forms an adequate seal around the wearer’s face. This testing is crucial to confirm that the wearer is receiving sufficient protection against dusts, mists, fumes, gases, vapours, and biological contaminants.

Mobile Screening provide quantitative fit testing which uses specialised equipment to measure the actual amount of leakage into the mask and provides a numerical result, known as the fit factor. It’s more precise and is used for higher hazard environments.

Hearing protection fit testing

Employees and employers

Hearing protection fit testing, also known as ear fit testing, is used to assess how well hearing protection guards an individual from harmful noise levels. By conducting fit tests, employers can verify that the hearing protectors selected for their workers are providing the necessary level of protection. This helps in customising protection for individual workers and ensuring compliance with the standard’s requirements.

The benefits of ear fit testing include:

  • Fast, quantitative, and objective, delivering quick and accurate measurements
  • Measurement of the effectiveness of hearing protectors for each individual, providing a Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR)
  • Employee education on how to properly fit their 3M earplugs or earmuffs
